You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
Bat For Lashes @ Town Hall
Bat For Lashes bills her current tour as “intimate, vocal, electronic synth and piano sets – euphoric, atmospheric and lush – a never performed before set of previous Bat For Lashes material and songs from the new album Lost Girls with some hidden surprises.”
Torche, Russian Baths, LAPeCHE @ Saint Vitus
Sludge-pop lifers Torche were in particularly great form on last year’s Admission, which they’ll support at Saint Vitus tonight. Good openers too.
1 Trait Danger (mbrs of Car Seat Headrest) @ Trans-Pecos
Car Seat Headrest drummer Andrew Katz, with help from his bandmates, puts out satirical records under the name 1 Trait Danger. Last year’s 1 Trait World Tour, his second album, pokes fun at the life of a touring musician, from midday festival groups that sound like Mac Demarco to offers to open for Ed Sheeran, all set to glitchy electro.
Soul Asylum, Local H @ Bowery Ballroom
Pretend it’s 1996 and jam out to the alt-rock sounds of Soul Asylum and Local H. Just don’t forget to set your VCR to tape Friends, Seinfeld and ER.
Store Front, Cafune, Riverwild @ Elsewhere
Store Front, the band featuring former Pains of Being Pure at Heart keyboardist Peggy Wang and Amy Rose Spiegel, just released their debut EP, Task, and celebrate that tonight.
Janeane Garofalo, Kate Willett, Xazmin Garza, Gabe Pacheco, Sameer Nelson @ Littlefield
It’s “an evening of comedy and camaraderie in support of the Brooklyn Socialist Slate of challengers!”
Ask Me Another w/ Dan Deacon @ The Bell House
Dan Deacon, who just released new album Mystic Familiar, sits in the hot seat tonight for popular NPR show/podcast Ask Me Another.
Post Malone, Swae Lee, Tyla Yaweh @ NYCB LIVE, Home of The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
After playing tons of arenas on his “Runaway Tour” last year, sing-rap giant Post Malone and his “Sunflower” collaborator Swae Lee (of Rae Sremmurd) are back in the NYC-area this week for two more shows, this being the second.
You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
